Ninety-five women in Accra are set to embark on entrepreneurial ventures following the completion of the three-day Women Empowerment Program organized by Women Helping Women (WHW). The initiative, designed to promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and financial support, provided participants with the tools necessary to launch their own businesses.
The program, part of Women Helping Women’s broader mission to empower women through education, economic advancement, and advocacy, culminated in a graduation ceremony where the women received certificates and cash grants to support their start-ups.
Founded in 2022 by Prof. Elizabeth Pedro, Women Helping Women for Sustainable Organization is a global award winning non-profit dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities for women and girls. Prof. Pedro emphasised the significance of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to empower women to become self-sufficient and confident in their ability to contribute meaningfully to society. When women are empowered, they lift their communities and help create a better tomorrow for all.”
The event was supported by a range of sponsors, including iSK, Froducieon, N’B, Newbridges, and Accoman, who share Women Helping Women’s commitment to gender equality and economic independence.
The program aligns with global movements such as Generation Equality and Women Helping Women ’s “Genderpreneur Initiative,” which aims to break down economic barriers for women, ensuring long-term empowerment and societal development.
As Women Helping Women continues to expand its global efforts, the success of this program in Accra underscores the organisation’s dedication to creating pathways for women to achieve economic independence and sustainable growth.
