In a major security breakthrough, a police-led Joint Security Force comprising the Nigerian Army (302 Artillery Regiment), Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante Service has successfully dislodged a notorious criminal camp in Ogbunka, Orumba South LGA, following a sustained intelligence-driven operation.

The offensive, which lasted over six hours, resulted in a fierce gun battle with armed criminals. Leveraging superior firepower and tactical coordination, the joint team not only overcame the resistance—including improvised explosive devices used by the hoodlums as defensive shields—but also inflicted significant damage on the gang.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation led to the recovery of essential relief materials such as pots, foodstuffs, and parts of suspected stolen, dismembered vehicles. Several criminals were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds, and efforts are ongoing to track them down.
“The operatives have taken over the area to sustain security dominance and ensure that any emerging threats are neutralized. The hunt for fleeing suspects continues,” said SP Ikenga.

He emphasized that the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, remains committed to denying unrepentant criminals the space to operate or create havoc in the state.

“The confidence reposed on us by Ndi Anambra and residents for the protection of lives and property is not taken for granted,” he assured.
This decisive action is part of a broader strategy by Anambra’s security apparatus to stamp out criminal enclaves and ensure lasting peace and safety for all residents.
