In a swift and coordinated operation, the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two male suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of an 80-year-old woman, Mrs. Theresa Igbojonu, in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Chidiebere Igboanugo and Emmanuel Ibeabuchi, both from Umunwaji Ogboro in Ihiala, are currently in police custody following their alleged involvement in the heinous crime.
According to police reports, Mrs. Igbojonu was tied by her legs and mouth before she was murdered in her residence. A black CG motorcycle belonging to the deceased, believed to have been stolen by the perpetrators, has since been recovered.

The incident was reported to the Ihiala Divisional Police Station at about 11:30 pm on April 2, 2025. Days later, on April 5, officers on a routine patrol apprehended Chidiebere Igboanugo after the son of the deceased recognized the stolen motorcycle being ridden by the suspect near Ezego junction in Ihiala.
Following intensive interrogation, Chidiebere confessed to the crime and implicated Emmanuel Ibeabuchi as a fellow conspirator. Acting swiftly on this lead, security operatives arrested Emmanuel on April 7.
Further investigations have revealed the identities of two more suspects involved in the crime — known as Alla and Emeka — who are currently at large. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fugitives.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Awka, for a comprehensive and discreet investigation.
He also assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in bringing all perpetrators of the crime to justice, urging the operatives to intensify efforts in tracking down the remaining suspects.
The arrested suspects will be formally charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Anambra State Police Command continues to call on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
