Labour Party’s top candidate for the 2025 Anambra governorship election, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has called on the people of Anambra State to back any candidate they believe is better than him, while reaffirming his readiness to lead the state. Addressing a distinguished audience from various political and religious backgrounds during a gathering at Osisioma Peace Lodge in Umunya, hosted by the Osisioma Foundation on Saturday, Ozigbo emphasized his qualifications to become the next governor.
Ozigbo, a successful business mogul, highlighted his deep-rooted passion for redeeming Anambra and restoring it to its former glory. He expressed concern over Anambra’s current struggles, particularly its ranking as the most insecure state in the South East. According to Ozigbo, only the right leadership can chart a better course for the state, with the support of the people.
He outlined his vision for transforming Anambra, focusing on a “sector approach” and “superb partnerships” to drive progress in education, health, poverty reduction, and security. Describing himself as a “child of grace” from a humble background, Ozigbo also highlighted his extensive experience in business and finance as vital tools for governance.
“The state’s high crime rate has made it almost unlivable, but through the right governance, we can make Anambra shine again,” Ozigbo said, lamenting how the state, once known for producing great leaders like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, and Chinua Achebe, had lost its prestige.
Under his campaign slogan, “Ka Anambra Chawapu” (Let Anambra Shine Again), Ozigbo promised to restore the state’s glory. He stressed that the development of Anambra transcends politics and requires a collective effort to ensure the right leader harnesses the state’s resources.
Ozigbo reiterated that his ambition is driven by his passion for uplifting the state and making Ndi Anambra proud.
