The Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo; National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo; The President, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku, and the Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Southeast Zone, will on 31st of July Grace the 2024 Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Media Summit.
The two days event which will take place at Hilton Leisure Hotels, Awka, Anambra State with the theme “Southeast: Towards A Robust Economic Blueprint for Sustainable Development is set to commence on Tuesday 30th July, 2024 while the event proper will be on 31st July, 2024.
The Convener and the NUJ Vice President, Southeast Zone, Comrade Emmanuel Ifesinachi disclosed this during a Courtesy Visit to the Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service(ABS), Awka, Mr Chidi Obidiegwu to acquaint the management of the event.
Comrade Ifesinachi while presenting the invitation to the ABS boss, said that Governor Soludo will attend the event as the Chief Host, the Keynote Speaker will be the National President of NIPR, Dr Ike Ikeliobi, while Chairman of the Manufacturer’s Association of Nigeria, South East Zone, Lady Ada Chukwudozie will take it from the private sector angle as the Guest Speaker and House Member, Representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon Chief Afam Ogene will lead the discussion from the media point of view.
“We expect at the end, the summit will generate a socio-economic and political Blueprint that will help in the management of Affairs in the Southeast”.
“The fora will also enable us to generate a Media Work Plan that will drive the principles of development as a result of the summit”.
“Anambra Broasdcasting Service as a prime station and media stakeholder in the State, we invite you and expect that the managing Director, Mr Chidi Chidi Obidiegwu will make input at the event to enable us fashion out a good document for the Zone”.
Responding, Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Chidi Obidiegwu explained that over the years, we have had a high degree number of talkshops on the socio economic development of the Southeast, yet nothing have been done or achieved so far,in concrete terms.
He noted that there is need for the Southeastern States to embrace cohesion, collaboration and cooperation, and urged that the summit comes up with a valid result for Southeast development rather than the usual talk and go home syndrome.
The ABS Boss, however, frowned at the get Rich-Quick-Syndrom from the youths, insecurity, hostile life style, kidnapping, drug abuse ravaging the Southeastern States which needs to be looked into as clue for unity of purpose in the coming event.
Meanwhile, others expected to grace the occasion include Political Bigwigs, the Academia, Captain of Industry, Public Relations Practitioners, Women Groups and the Journalists.
