Governor Prof. Charles Soludo congratulated the 21 newly elected Local Government Chairmen and their respective Councillors following the recent Local Government elections held on September 28, 2024. Governor Soludo underscored the critical responsibilities entrusted to these officials and expressed his confidence in their leadership abilities.
In his message, the Governor highlighted the importance of adhering to the Oath of Allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Oath of Office, reminding the newly elected officials of their commitment to accountability and transparency in governance. “Your roles are pivotal in driving development in your localities, and I urge you to prioritise the welfare of your constituents,” he stated.
Governor Soludo also made a special mention of the women elected as Deputy Mayors, applauding their participation and expressing optimism about their collaborative efforts with the Chairmen to foster local development. He assured the newly elected leaders of his administration’s unwavering support in executing their mandates effectively.
In a bid to equip the Chairmen with the necessary skills for effective governance, the Governor announced plans for a retreat focusing on the principles of good governance. “This retreat will serve as a platform for you to learn and share best practices as we work together to enhance the progress of Anambra State,” he emphasised.
Governor Soludo reaffirmed that his administration seeks to work in synergy with Local Government authorities to align collective efforts aimed at advancing the developmental goals of the state. By prioritising cooperative governance, the Governor aims to ensure that both tiers of government effectively contribute to improving the living standards of the citizens of Anambra State.
As the new office holders step into their roles, all eyes will be on them to deliver on the promises of development and service to the people.
