A wave of shock and sorrow has engulfed the Igumale district of Ado Local Government Area in Benue State following the appalling news of Sunday Oche, a respected Labour Party (LP) ward chairman, who fell victim to a merciless attack by suspected bandits. The heart-wrenching incident occurred on Monday while Oche was diligently engaged in his cassava farming activities. Eyewitnesses have provided chilling accounts of the horrifying event, revealing that Oche was in the company of several other individuals when the armed invaders launched their assault. Although five individuals managed to narrowly escape with gunshot wounds, fate dealt a cruel blow to Oche, as he was tragically shot and killed by the assailants. Another distressing account paints an even grimmer picture, indicating that Oche and his companions had set out to assist a widowed farmer on her farm. As they were making their way back home on motorbikes, their journey was abruptly halted when the bandits cunningly barricaded the road and unleashed a barrage of deadly gunfire, ruthlessly snatching away Oche’s life in an instant.
