The Anambra Special Anti-Touting Squad Agency (SASA) has been named the Best Enforcement Agency of 2024 in Anambra State, a recognition of its remarkable efforts in maintaining law and order. The prestigious award was presented by Pechilly Investigative Limited/World Peace Advocate following a comprehensive online voting process by security assessment experts across Nigeria.
The award ceremony took place on Tuesday at SASA’s state headquarters in Onitsha, with the Chief Executive Officer of Pechilly Investigative Limited, Ambassador Karen James, lauding the agency’s unparalleled commitment. According to James, SASA outperformed other security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, due to its dedication to combating bag snatching, pickpocketing, illegal revenue collection, and touting in key areas such as Onitsha and Nnewi.
“This award is to encourage SASA to continue its exceptional work, ensuring that bias and sentiments do not interfere with their duties. The global voting process, conducted with the involvement of the United Nations, the Egyptian Embassy, and the World Peace Advocate, signifies the importance of promoting peace and unity,” James stated.
Accepting the award on behalf of SASA, the State Director, Hon. Solomon Chukwuebuka, dedicated the honor to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his unwavering commitment to restoring order in Anambra’s markets, particularly in the commercial hub of Onitsha.
“This award is a testament to our dedication to serving the people of Anambra State. Onitsha has regained its lost glory under Governor Soludo’s leadership. His vision for a peaceful, livable, and prosperous Anambra inspires us to work harder,” Chukwuebuka said.
Other dignitaries at the event included Hon. Ejike Odife, coordinator of Ocha Brigade, who expressed gratitude for the support and recognition extended by the Managing Director of Ocha Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, and commended the collaborative efforts of various agencies in ensuring safety and order in Anambra.
The award ceremony underscores SASA’s remarkable achievements within just over a year of its establishment, serving as a motivating force to continue its fight against touting activities and promoting a safer environment for residents and businesses in Anambra.
