In response to growing concerns and negative criticism surrounding the operations of Agunechemba (Udo Ga Achi) and the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), Chief Ken Emeakayi, Special Assistant to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, has announced that members of both organizations will undergo mandatory narcotic and cultism screening.

The disclosure was made during a town hall meeting held on Thursday with community stakeholders and security representatives, aimed at strengthening ethical practices and professional conduct within the organizations.
Chief Emeakayi expressed strong reservations over reports of misconduct by some members of the security groups, reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline and breaches of code of conduct. He warned that disciplinary measures would be strictly enforced against any personnel found wanting.

“To sustain credibility and legitimacy, we must not allow the actions of a few to undermine the integrity of these organizations. Screening and strict monitoring will ensure that only disciplined, trustworthy individuals remain in service,” he stated.
Stakeholders at the meeting unanimously endorsed the establishment of a monitoring and oversight team to supervise the daily operations of Agunechemba and SASA. The committee is expected to enforce compliance, promote accountability, and restore public trust.
The session ended with a renewed pledge by personnel to improve their performance, uphold ethical values, and work diligently towards restoring confidence in the state’s grassroots security architecture.
