Police officers serving at the Anambra State Command Headquarters in Awka have expressed their delight and gratitude towards their retired Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, for his exceptional efforts in improving their work environment during his tenure.
The officers recall how CP Adeoye swiftly responded to their concerns when the roof of the Open Registry began leaking, causing the office to flood during the rainy season. Without hesitation, he made funds available for the necessary repairs to ensure a conducive working environment for the personnel.
Now, the Anambra State Command Headquarters stands as a testament to CP Adeoye’s dedication and determination to create a beautiful and functional space for the officers. His extraordinary efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he has received numerous gifts from officers across the state and has been honored with several receptions, serving as a sign of gratitude and appreciation for his exceptional contributions during his time in service.
Further demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the officers, CP Adeoye promptly addressed the issue of a broken air conditioner in the Communication Centre. Under his directive, a brand new split unit air conditioner was installed, providing much-needed relief to officers who had been enduring uncomfortable working conditions.
What truly amazed everyone, however, was the extensive renovation that took place within the Command Headquarters. Approximately N5m was spent on the complete refurbishment of the Conference Hall and the Headquarters Car Park. These repairs were not included in the regular police allocations, highlighting CP Adeoye’s dedication to ensuring a well-maintained and professional working environment.
The Conference Hall, where journalists frequently receive briefings, had a deteriorating floor, with exposed decking iron rods in some areas. CP Adeoye personally provided the funds for the comprehensive repair and the laying of new tiles not only in the Conference Room but also in all the adjoining corridors leading to the staircase.
The Car Park, which had outdated and rusted corrugated iron sheets, was another area that received CP Adeoye’s attention. He made it his mission to replace the rusted sheets with long-span aluminium sheets, transforming not only the Car Park but also the gate house and the roof of the sentry tower.
Officers who attended the last briefing by CP Adeoye revealed that he had expressed his desire to enhance the headquarters’ aesthetic appeal by re-roofing all three structures. True to his word, work continued day and night in the final days of his tenure, and the project was successfully completed on his last day in office.
