CP Aderemi Adeoye, the 33rd Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, is an outstanding individual with an impressive profile. Born on 19th August 1966 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, he hails from Modakeke in Osun State. He spent his childhood in Zaria, Kaduna State, where he completed his primary and secondary education.
CP Adeoye’s pursuit of knowledge led him to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in 1988. He furthered his education by earning a Master’s degree in Legal, Criminological, and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan in 2005.
Throughout his career, CP Adeoye has exemplified a commitment to continuous learning and development. He has completed various advanced courses and training programs both locally and internationally. Some notable institutions where he received training include the Police Staff College in Jos, Kofi Anan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Ghana, Centre of Excellence in Police Training in England, and the Naval Postgraduate School in California, United States. He has also studied at prestigious institutions like Harvard University, the University of Oxford, and the University of Capetown.
CP Adeoye’s career in the Nigeria Police Force began on 1st May 1989 when he enlisted as a recruit constable, despite already having a university degree. However, his dedication and hard work quickly propelled him through the ranks, from constable to assistant superintendent of police within two years. He was promoted to the rank of chief superintendent of police in 2006, and steadily rose to the position of commissioner of police in 2022.
Throughout his career, CP Adeoye has held various positions and made significant contributions to law enforcement. He started his career in Anambra State, serving for ten years in different capacities, such as patrol and guard officer, anti-vehicle theft officer, and anti-robbery patrol officer at the State CID in Awka. He also served as the pioneer commander of the Anambra State Trooper from 1999 to 2000.
CP Adeoye’s stellar performance caught the attention of the United Nations, and he was deployed to Liberia as a peacekeeper from 2005 to 2006. In this role, he served as a special adviser to the UN Police Commissioner and crime analyst for the UN Mission. He played a vital role in Liberia’s history by overseeing the communication during the presidential inauguration. Throughout his five-year tenure with the African Union Commission in Ethiopia, he rose to the position of police coordinator and head of the police component.
CP Adeoye is a highly decorated officer, with awards and commendations that recognize his exceptional service and leadership. Some of the awards he has received include the IGP’s Commendation for Courage, JTF Commander’s Award for Leadership, and multiple UN and African Union awards and medals.
Outside of his professional life, CP Adeoye is a devoted family man. He is married to Mrs. Bolanle Adeoye, and they are blessed with four children. In his leisure time, he enjoys watching movies on Netflix and playing table tennis. He is also an avid reader and prolific writer, having delivered numerous papers at international conferences.
