In a determined effort to strengthen public safety and dismantle criminal networks, the Anambra State Police Command has continued its raid operations in Awka, resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally made revolver pistol and other incriminating items.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of April 29, 2025, was executed by operatives from B Division of the Command following credible intelligence. The target was an uncompleted building located in Iyiagu Estate, Awka — a suspected hideout for criminal elements.
The suspects arrested during the raid have been identified as Paulinus Nkuda, Nwankwo Emmanuel, and Nwadede Godspower, all male. According to preliminary investigation, the recovered firearm allegedly belongs to one Chukwuebuka, widely known by the alias “Nwa Onitsha,” who remains at large.
In addition to the firearm, substances suspected to be hard drugs were also found at the scene.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects and case materials have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping and Rapid Response Unit for further investigation. He also assured the public that a manhunt for Chukwuebuka, alias Nwa Onitsha, has been intensified.
“This operation is part of our sustained efforts to enhance safety and security in Awka by targeting criminal hotspots and rooting out threats to public peace,” Ikenga stated.
Residents of Awka have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies, as the police continue their efforts to secure the State capital.
