In a dramatic breakthrough, the police command has apprehended the parents of the prime suspect in the brutal murder case of Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old graduating student of Kwara State College of Health Technology. Alongside the suspect’s parents, five other suspects have also been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in causing the disappearance of vital evidence. This latest development sheds new light on the shocking crime that has gripped the community of Offa, Kwara State.
The initial arrest was made when Adebayo Joshua Happiness, a final-year student who had been expelled from Summit University, was brought in as the primary suspect in connection with the death of Awesu Mojisola. However, the investigation took a surprising turn as State Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya announced that the staff member of the hotel where the victim had been killed was among those arrested. Further probing revealed that the staff member had unlawfully disposed of the deceased’s body at a refuse dump.
But the shock did not end there. It was unveiled that Mr. and Mrs. Adebayo Adeniyi, the parents of the suspected killer, attempted to tamper with crucial evidence by retrieving their son’s belongings from his school after his arrest. Through meticulous and discreet investigation, the police managed to apprehend the suspect’s parents. Astonishingly, it was discovered that Mrs. Adeniyi Bukola had removed the SIM card from the victim’s iPhone and discreetly concealed it within a wall near their residence. This revelation contradicted Adebayo Joshua Happiness’s previous claim that he had discarded the phone in the Afelele River in Offa. Both the iPhone and SIM card were ultimately recovered from the possession of the suspect’s parents.
As a result of these shocking developments, the suspects involved in the act of evidence tampering have been charged with criminal conspiracy and causing the disappearance of evidence. While the investigation is still ongoing, all the suspects are currently in custody. Commissioner Olaiya assured the public that once the investigation is complete, the suspects will face due legal process and be brought to court to face the full weight of the law.
The tragic case of Awesu Mojisola, who went missing under suspicious circumstances on August 13, 2024, has left the Offa community reeling with shock and grief. The arrest of the parents of the suspected killer and the discovery of evidence tampering bring a glimmer of hope to those seeking justice for the young woman whose promising life was tragically cut short. The community remains united, awaiting the full closure that can only come with a fair and just resolution to this horrifying crime.
