Police Launch Manhunt for Escaped Suspects in Justice Azuka’s Murder Case
Awka, February 18, 2025 — The Anambra State Police Command has activated an operational plan to re-arrest two suspects who escaped custody during an operation related to the murder of Late Hon. Justice Azuka, a Member representing Onitsha 1 Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, upon receiving the report of the escape, has deployed extensive human, operational, and intelligence assets to track down the fugitives. Additionally, he has ordered immediate disciplinary action against the officers whose negligence enabled the escape.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two suspects, who had been assisting the police in an ongoing operation, fled during an attempt to apprehend a known receiver of stolen items.
During the operation, officers successfully arrested the receiver and recovered two vehicles suspected to have been snatched from the public. However, in the course of the onslaught, the two suspects managed to escape.
Reassuring the public, CP Orutugu emphasized that the police remain relentless in their pursuit of justice. “The Command is on the offensive against all criminal elements in the state. We will ensure the re-arrest of these suspects and bring them to justice,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the officers involved in the escape incident will face disciplinary measures if found culpable, as the police leadership remains committed to accountability and professionalism.
The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any useful information that could aid in the swift re-arrest of the suspects.
When Pechilly Investigative raised the alarm that two suspects escaped, the police command denied the allegations. Finally it has come to light that suspects truly escaped the RRS custody.
