In an early morning operation on the 29th of May, 2024, the Anambra State Police acted on credible information and successfully intercepted a notorious cultist and armed robber, Amalu Onyedika. The 32-year-old suspect, a resident of Eziagu in Enugu State, was apprehended in Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
During the arrest, the police recovered a locally made pistol and four live ammunition from Onyedika. The suspect, who claimed to be a technician involved in the aluminum and glass windows business in Onitsha, confessed to being a member of the junior Vikings secret cult. He confessed to joining the notorious gang at the age of 22 and has been involved in terrorizing Nkwelle and its surrounding areas.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed that the investigation be expanded to ensure that all members of the gang are brought to justice. The case will be charged to court after a thorough investigation.
