Ukpo, Anambra State — The Zone 13 Police Headquarters in Ukpo, Anambra State, has welcomed a new Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Abayomi Peter Oladapo, who assumed duty on Tuesday.

AIG AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo succeeds AIG Godwin Aghaulor, who retired after an illustrious 35-year career in public service. This marks Oladapo’s appointment as the 8th AIG overseeing Zone 13, which comprises Anambra and Enugu States.
Upon arrival, Oladipo was warmly received by top officers and staff of the zonal command in Dunukofia Local Government Area. Addressing journalists, the new AIG acknowledged the security challenges facing the region and pledged to build on the existing security framework.
“I have not come to dismantle the security architecture already in place but to improve it in alignment with the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun,” Oladapo stated.
He assured residents that his administration would work closely with neighboring states to combat cross-border crime and banditry. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Oladapo called for enhanced partnerships with other security agencies and local communities to boost safety efforts.

“The police cannot do it alone,” he noted. “We need synergy, cooperation, and credible information from residents to successfully fight crime.”
Oladapo further urged citizens to stand united against criminal elements who, he said, represent a small fraction of the population but significantly threaten peace and development.
He expressed gratitude to the media for their role in promoting public safety and called for continued support to strengthen security initiatives.
As AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo embarks on his tenure, residents of Anambra and Enugu States look forward to improved security measures and enhanced community-police collaboration.
