In a remarkable display of hands-on leadership, the Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, personally intervened yesterday to resolve a severe traffic gridlock at the bustling Ekene Junction in Onitsha.
Returning from an official assignment, Mayor Nwora encountered the evening rush hour chaos that has long plagued the popular junction. Determined to restore order, he stepped out of his vehicle and took charge of the situation, directing traffic alongside traffic officers.
His presence had an immediate impact as motorists, including commercial tricycle (Keke) riders, began to obey traffic signals and comply with directives. Within a short time, traffic congestion was significantly reduced, allowing commuters to continue their journeys with ease.
Acknowledging the persistent traffic challenges in the area, Mayor Nwora announced plans to implement a shift system for traffic personnel. This initiative aims to ensure that traffic officers are available throughout the evening to prevent recurring congestion.
Residents and commuters praised the Mayor’s swift and decisive action, hailing it as a testament to his commitment to improving the daily lives of the people of Onitsha North.
With proactive leadership like this, Onitsha North LGA is poised for more responsive and people-centered governance under Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora’s administration.
