Obosi, Idemili LGA – September 28, 2025 – In what political observers have described as a landmark event in Idemili politics, thousands of members from opposition parties officially defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in a grand ceremony held in Obosi.
The defection saw 10,000 members from the All Progressives Congress (APC), 300 from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), 200 from the Labour Party, and 100 from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) formally embrace APGA, reaffirming the party’s growing dominance in Anambra State ahead of the November 8, 2025 elections.“APGA Is the Moving Train” – Commissioner Okoma
Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Ifeanyi Okoma, expressed his joy, describing the mass movement as proof that Ndi Anambra have recognized APGA as the true home of progress and stability.
> “I am very happy today because everyone now understands that APGA is the moving train. No one wants to go back to Egypt anymore. Ndi Anambra must be wise and vote for APGA on November 8 for a better government, because APGA belongs to Ndi Anambra alone,” Okoma stated.
Stakeholders Unite Behind APGA
The event was graced by top APGA stakeholders from Idemili, who reassured the defectors of equal opportunities within the party. Many of the new members expressed relief and excitement at joining APGA, pledging their loyalty to the party’s vision.
Bosco, a key APC defector, captured the general mood of the day:
> “We feel very happy and relieved. This move has given us a sense of belonging and we believe APGA is the only party that truly represents the people of Anambra.”
Inauguration of Electoral Officers
As part of the ceremony, the APGA stakeholders also inaugurated newly appointed electoral officers to strengthen grassroots mobilization in Idemili.
The inauguration was conducted by Hon. Lemmy Ekwo, Chairman of APGA in Idemili North, alongside Hon. Obi Idemobi, who also serves as Chairman of the Campaign Council.
Both leaders charged the new officers to carry out their duties with commitment, fairness, and loyalty to the party’s values, while mobilizing Ndi Anambra for total victory in the forthcoming election.
Political Implications. With this defection, political analysts say APGA has further consolidated its grassroots dominance in Anambra State. The move underscores APGA’s position not only as a political party but as a unifying platform for Ndi Anambra.
As November 8 approaches, the momentum clearly appears to be shifting in APGA’s favor, with the Obosi rally marking a significant turning point in the political landscape of Idemili and beyond.
