In a remarkable achievement by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), three suspects have been apprehended for their involvement in the tragic kidnapping and murder of a 15-year-old boy in Ogun State. This news follows the recent announcement by the Kaduna State Police Command about the detention of 11 suspected kidnappers and the recovery of weapons in their possession.
The suspects, identified as Umar Muhammad (24), Audu Muhammad (22), and Umar Danda (22), stand accused of abducting Yahu Muhammad and subsequently taking his life, even after receiving a ransom of N500,000. Commander Soji Ganzallo, through spokesperson Moruf Yusuf, made the arrest announcement in a statement. According to the statement, the victim was abducted while tending to cattle in the Akara forest area of Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
The statement explained the sequence of events: “On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at about 7 p.m., information reached the Imala Division of the Corps regarding a kidnapping incident. A 15-year-old boy named Yahu Muhammad was kidnapped, and a ransom of N500,000.00 was collected, but the suspects refused to release him. The Special Squad of the Corps at Imala was deployed to rescue the victim unhurt. However, upon arriving at the kidnappers’ den—Olodo Karaoke along Anigbado-Idiemi Road in Abeokuta North Local Government—the team discovered that the suspects had tragically taken the life of young Yahu Muhammad, despite collecting the ransom.”
The So-Safe Corps State Commander expressed his appreciation to the operatives of the Vigilante Group for their assistance in apprehending the third suspect, Umar Danda. This collaborative effort highlights the dedication of the authorities and the commitment toward ensuring justice is served for the innocent souls affected by such heinous crimes.
The apprehension of these suspects is a significant stride forward in the fight against kidnapping and violence in Ogun State. It sends a strong message to criminals that they will not escape the long arm of the law.
