Abagana, Anambra State – Tragedy struck in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, as a woman, Mrs. Chioma Nwanna, mother of six, died after being set ablaze by her husband on Tuesday over allegations of infidelity.
A disturbing video circulating on social media captured the harrowing aftermath of the incident. Mrs. Nwanna, covered in burns, was seen writhing on the ground and cursing her husband before being rushed to the hospital.

According to local sources, the husband accused Mrs. Nwanna of being unfaithful, which led to a heated argument between the couple. As tempers flared, the man allegedly doused his wife with fuel and set her on fire.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care but succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the incident and announced the arrest of the suspect. Speaking on the matter, State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said:
“We are aware of the matter, but it is sad to announce that the woman just died this morning while receiving medical attention. Her husband has been arrested, and an investigation into the incident has commenced.”
The shocking nature of the crime has sparked outrage across social media and within the community. Many have called for swift justice to be served and for greater awareness of domestic violence issues in society.
The tragic death of Mrs. Chioma Nwanna serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need to address domestic violence and protect vulnerable individuals from such heinous acts.
