Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has sacked Mr. Paul Nwosu, the State Commissioner for Information, reportedly due to incompetence in handling his responsibilities. Nwosu, who has held the position since 2022, is said to have been dismissed for failing to effectively manage the governor’s public image as preparations for next year’s governorship election intensify.
According to a source close to the matter, Nwosu has already vacated his office, and a replacement is expected to be announced imminently. “As I speak to you, Mr. Paul Nwosu has packed his bags, and we’re just waiting for the announcement from the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Christian Aburime,” the source revealed. The new commissioner has reportedly undergone screening at the Anambra State House of Assembly in anticipation of taking over the role.
Efforts to confirm the news from Mr. Aburime were unsuccessful, as he declined to comment on the matter.
Nwosu’s dismissal has been met with celebration from members of the press in Anambra State. Journalists have expressed relief, alleging that the commissioner had largely avoided media engagement throughout his tenure. Reports indicate that over the past three years, Nwosu rarely interacted with journalists, often avoiding their visits to his office.
The Anambra House of Assembly is expected to complete the screening process for Nwosu’s replacement shortly, with an official announcement likely to follow in the coming days.
