Our attention has been drawn to a viral report alleging that members of the Anambra State Anti-Touting were responsible for the tragic incident that occurred this morning at Emeka Offor Plaza axis, Onitsha Main Market.
The report, widely circulated by an unverified blogger, is not only misleading but also a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the Anti-Touting Taskforce.

Facts of the matter:
Preliminary findings confirm that the Anti-Touting Taskforce was not involved in the said operation.
Cabal is not a staff of Anti touting.
Circulating videos and eyewitness claims referenced by the blogger have not been verified and should not be treated as facts.
It is unfortunate that while families are grieving over the incident, some individuals find it convenient to spread lies and mislead the public for cheap traffic and attention. Such reckless blogging is not only unprofessional but also capable of inciting unnecessary tension in Onitsha and across Anambra State.
The truth remains:
The Anti-Touting Agency has maintained its mandate of sanitizing the environment, ending hoodlums and ensuring order in our state without resorting to violence. Linking the body to such a sensitive tragedy is malicious and mischievous.
We urge the public to disregard these false reports and wait for official statements from credible security and government authorities who are already investigating the incident.
The Anti-Touting Agency remains committed to peace, orderliness, and the protection of lives and property in Anambra State.
