Anaocha, Anambra State – In a bid to bolster security and foster collaboration between law enforcement and local communities, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, addressed the Anaocha Local Government Stakeholders Forum today, January 7, 2025.
The security summit, themed “Repositioning Security Architectural System in Anaocha,” took place at the Swiss Hotel in Agulu and gathered prominent leaders and stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches to community security.
During his address, CP Itam emphasized the importance of community involvement in ensuring public safety. “Building trust and encouraging cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve is critical to addressing security concerns. Together, we can develop effective strategies to prevent crime and create a safer environment for all,” he stated.
Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Rome Ibekwe, Chairman of Anaocha Local Government; Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (Rtd), representing the Governor of Anambra State; HRM Igwe Christopher Okpala, Chairman of the Anaocha Traditional Council; and Presidents General of the 10 towns in the local government area.
The summit provided a platform for robust discussions on improving the security architecture in Anaocha. Stakeholders reiterated their commitment to collaborating with the police to tackle security challenges, including youth engagement, intelligence sharing, and community policing.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, noted that such forums are essential for fostering mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships for effective policing.
As the forum concluded, participants commended CP Itam’s proactive efforts and called for continued dialogue and implementation of strategies discussed during the summit. The event underscored the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring peace and security in Anaocha and Anambra State at large.
