The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has taken decisive action following a brazen attack on a police team at Omata junction, Nnewi Oba road. The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 am today, 9th August 2024. In response, CP Itam has ordered a manhunt operation to swiftly identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The manhunt operation, led by the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Nnewi Area Command, is already underway. Working closely with the locals in the area, the police are determined to unmask the attackers and bring them to justice. The community’s support and cooperation in providing valuable information will play a crucial role in the success of the operation.
During the attack, a fierce gun duel ensued between the police operatives and the gunmen. Tragically, one police personnel lost their life after being hit by an explosive thrown by the assailants. Another officer sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
In response to the incident, the police have swiftly taken control of the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents. As investigations progress, additional details will be communicated to the public.
