In response to ongoing intelligence indicating the presence of criminally minded individuals planning a violent and bloodshed-filled Cult Day celebration on July 7th, 2024, the Anambra State Police Command has issued a timely advisory. The command strongly advises all persons or groups involved to immediately cease their activities, as the police are constitutionally mandated to protect lives and properties.
The Anambra State Police Command has expressed its determination to prevent any attempts by disgruntled elements to reverse the progress made by security agencies in combating cult-related incidents. Any individual found engaging in cult activities or any acts that undermine the state’s security will face decisive action, according to the police.
Furthermore, the command reaffirms that all events related to cult activities, including the upcoming Cult Day celebration, remain strictly prohibited. The command declares its intention to enforce relevant laws, particularly the newly enacted Anti-Cultism law of the state, against anyone caught participating in cult-related activities or engaging in acts that jeopardize the state’s security.
In light of this advisory, the Anambra State Police Command warns hoteliers, bar owners, and event/recreation center operators to exercise caution and vigilance regarding gatherings associated with cult activities. Failure to comply with this warning will result in severe consequences for those found in violation.
Parents and guardians are strongly urged to caution their wards and educate them on the importance of obeying the law and refraining from activities that could disrupt the peace in the state. By instilling a sense of responsibility and respect for the law in their children, parents and guardians can contribute to maintaining a secure and peaceful environment.
The Anambra State Police Command, alongside other security agencies, remains steadfast, committed, and dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the state and its residents. Every effort will be made to uphold the law and protect the people from any threats to their well-being.
