In a significant breakthrough, police operatives attached to the Inland Town Division in Anambra State have recovered the vehicle belonging to Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North Constituency. The lawmaker was abducted on December 24, 2024, at around 9:20 p.m. while returning home along Ugwunapampa Road, Onitsha.
The abandoned vehicle was discovered earlier today by a rescue team conducting an intensive search operation. It was found at Upper Iweka Road, a notorious area in Onitsha. The identity and motives of the kidnappers remain unknown as investigations and rescue efforts continue.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has commended the progress made so far and charged the deployed offensive teams to redouble their efforts in ensuring the safe rescue of Hon. Azuka.
“We remain committed to securing the release of the Honourable member. I have directed all teams involved to intensify their operations and leave no stone unturned in bringing this situation to a successful resolution,” CP Itam said.
He further urged the public to provide any information that could assist in the ongoing rescue efforts, assuring them that such intelligence would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
This incident has heightened concerns over the growing spate of insecurity in the region, particularly during the festive season. The Anambra State Police Command has reassured residents of its resolve to tackle crime and ensure the safety of all citizens.
Further updates on this case will be provided as investigations and rescue operations progress.
