Assures Commitment to Security and Protection of Lives and Property
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, has urged Christian and Muslim faithful to align their faith together in the spirit of Ash Wednesday and Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of unity, peace, and prayers for the nation.

Speaking today, February 5, 2025, CP Orutugu highlighted the shared spiritual values of the two religious observances, encouraging both communities to sustain the message of peace through love, forgiveness, and tolerance.
He explained that Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer, fasting, and repentance leading to Easter, while Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims, characterized by fasting and spiritual reflection. Both traditions, he noted, emphasize self-discipline, spiritual growth, and renewal.
The Commissioner reassured the people of Anambra that the State Police Command remains committed to its mandate of protecting lives and property. He stated that the police are continuously evolving strategies to tackle emerging security challenges and ensure a safe environment for all residents.
CP Orutugu further urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies, emphasizing the need for a collective effort in combating crime and maintaining public safety.
The highlight of the memorial included a church service at the Command Headquarters, where Christian faithful received the symbolic application of ashes on their foreheads, signifying penance and humility.
The event served as a call for interfaith harmony, reinforcing the need for religious communities to work together in fostering peace and national unity.
