In a bid to ensure smooth traffic flow and compliance with road regulations, the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA), led by Hon. Chuzzy Okoli, carried out a comprehensive traffic enforcement exercise in Onitsha today. The operation covered key areas, including Head Bridge, Tollgate, Upper Iweka, Seaman, and the New Tyre Market along the expressway.

Hon. Chuzzy Okoli, known for his proactive approach and dedication to enforcing traffic laws, spearheaded the exercise, which saw the decongestion of major roads and the impounding of several vehicles parked or loading illegally. The exercise aimed to maintain order and ensure safe driving conditions for road users in the bustling Onitsha zone.

During the operation, the ARTMA team faced resistance from a tipper driver who attempted to disrupt their activities. However, the enforcement team stood their ground, successfully maintaining order and continuing the exercise without further incidents.

Speaking to journalists, Hon. Chuzzy Okoli emphasized the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations. “The governor has made it clear that no vehicle should park or load on the road. Every vehicle must use designated parks, and anyone caught violating this directive will face penalties, including having their vehicles impounded,” he stated.

The exercise was well-received by many residents and commuters who commended ARTMA’s efforts to ensure safer and more organized traffic flow. “It is high time people learned to follow the rules. What Hon. Okoli and his team are doing is commendable,” a commuter remarked.

Hon. Okoli reiterated ARTMA’s commitment to sustaining the enforcement exercise across Onitsha and other parts of Anambra State. “Anambra State gaa adi mma (Anambra State will remain good). We will not relent until every road user understands the importance of obeying traffic rules,” he affirmed.
The agency urged all drivers and vehicle operators to comply with traffic regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to creating a safer and more organized transportation system in the state.
