Awka South, Anambra State – The newly launched security operation “Udo Ga Chi” and other security outfits in Anambra State have intensified efforts to combat criminal activities, successfully apprehending suspected kidnappers and uncovering their hideouts during a major operation on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
The operation, which aligns with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s directives, targeted areas suspected of harboring criminals. According to the governor, anyone found sheltering or aiding criminals will face severe consequences, including the demolition and confiscation of their property by the state government.
During the raid, the security team rescued victims held by the kidnappers and secured vital intelligence on the group’s activities. Governor Soludo commended the swift action of the security outfits and emphasized his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and safety across the state.
In a statement, the governor reiterated that the state would not tolerate any form of complicity in criminal activities. “Let it be clear: anyone harboring criminals will face the full weight of the law. Their buildings will be demolished, and the property will be taken over by the Anambra State Government,” Soludo said.
To encourage citizens to provide actionable intelligence, Governor Soludo announced a reward of ₦5 million for anyone who supplies credible information leading to the arrest of criminals. He urged residents to collaborate with the government in ensuring the state remains a safe haven for law-abiding citizens.
The “Udo Ga Chi” operation marks a significant step in Anambra’s ongoing fight against crime, as the state government reinforces its zero-tolerance stance on criminality. Authorities have assured citizens that the operation will continue until safety and security are restored across all communities.
