In a recent statement, the Anambra State Police Command has denounced the alarming report titled “Gunmen Kill 21 Soldiers in Anambra” as baseless, fictitious, and an act of mischief. The Command categorically states that there is no truth to this report, which has been circulated by various online media outlets and national newspapers.
Expressing dismay at the spread of this misleading information, the Command has pointed out that the alleged hospital where the corpses of the soldiers are said to be kept does not actually exist in the State Capital of Awka. Upon conducting thorough investigations, no evidence of such an incident was found, leading the Command to conclude that this is a deliberate attempt by unscrupulous individuals to create tension within the state.
Consequently, the Anambra State Police Command has warned that it will not hesitate to invoke cyber laws against anyone found guilty of perpetuating such false reports. The Command urges the public to disregard the said report and not fall victim to the misinformation being spread.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Command, reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security within the state. He urged residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
In light of this clarification from the Anambra State Police Command, citizens are encouraged to verify information from reliable sources before accepting it as true, thus curbing the spread of fake news. The Command remains steadfast in its mission to protect the lives and property of the people, ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all residents of Anambra State.
