Anambra State has successfully conducted its long-awaited local government election after 11 years of delay, marking a new chapter in grassroots governance. Voters across the state turned out in large numbers to elect their local leaders, with the election being widely hailed as peaceful and well-organised.
In an interview with *Pechilly Investigative Media*, Hon. Nkamigbo Okwudili, one of the voters and a prominent figure in the community, expressed his satisfaction with the electoral process. Hon. Okwudili, who cast his vote at Onitsha North, stated that the election was free of any issues or disruptions.
“It was a successful election, without any problems or troubles,” Hon. Okwudili said. “I am happy to have participated in this historic moment. This is a great development for Anambra, and I commend the governor for allowing the election to hold after 11 long years.”
Hon. Okwudili further expressed his gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for ensuring the election was conducted smoothly, describing the governor’s decision as a crucial step toward strengthening democracy at the grassroots level.
“I cast my vote at Onitsha North, and I am okay and happy. This is a wonderful development, and all thanks to Mr. Governor for making it possible,” he added.
The local government election is seen as a critical moment in the state’s democratic process, as it allows residents to choose leaders directly responsible for their communities’ development. Many residents, like Hon. Okwudili, have expressed their optimism about the positive changes the election could bring to local governance in Anambra State.
Observers and electoral officials have confirmed that the election was free, fair, and devoid of any major incidents. Governor Soludo has been praised for his role in ensuring the election was conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, reflecting his commitment to revitalising local governance.
As the results are eagerly awaited, there is widespread hope that the elected leaders will bring renewed development, accountability, and progress to the people of Anambra State, following years of delayed elections.
