In the early hours of January 23, 2025, police operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call along the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway, leading to the discovery of the lifeless body of a young man.
According to a statement released by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, the victim remains unidentified. Preliminary investigations, including eyewitness reports and on-site observations, suggest the man was shot in the stomach by suspected armed assailants who fled the scene, abandoning his body.
The deceased’s body has since been deposited at a morgue as investigations continue. The Anambra State Police Command is calling on members of the public to assist in identifying the victim and providing any information that may aid in the ongoing investigation.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga assured the public that updates on the case would be provided as more details emerged. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Anambra Police Command.
The incident underscores the urgent need for collective efforts to address rising insecurity in the region.
