The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into a disturbing case involving a young man, identified as Chogbo popularly known as Agudo, who was allegedly kept in chains for five years by his father in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area.

According to reports, the father allegedly deceived relatives and neighbors by claiming that his son had traveled abroad, while secretly holding him captive. The matter came to light following the intervention of vigilant community youths, who raised alarm over the suspicious situation.
Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, has ordered operatives to immediately investigate the case to ascertain the facts and ensure justice. He confirmed that the victim has been rescued and is currently receiving appropriate care.
CP Orutugu commended the youths of Igboukwu for their proactive role in exposing the incident, describing their actions as a “clear example of community partnership in policing.” He assured that if culpability is established, those responsible will face the full weight of the law.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, emphasized that the Command is committed to safeguarding the rights and well-being of all citizens. He added that further developments on the case will be communicated in due course.
