The Anambra State Police Command has commenced investigations into the alleged murder of Mr. Fabian Osita Chinedu, a staff member of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka. Mr. Chinedu was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Monday, December 16, 2024, at approximately 10:10 PM at Aroma Junction, a bustling area in Awka.
According to initial reports, the assailants fled the scene with the victim’s car, a Toyota Corolla (2006 model), ash in color, bearing an Enugu State plate number UWN 158 AS.
In a statement issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Anambra State Command, the police expressed their condolences to the deceased’s family and the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
“The Command deeply sympathizes with Mr. Fabian Osita Chinedu’s family and the UNIZIK community during this tragic time. We urge anyone with useful information to assist in the ongoing investigation,” SP Ikenga stated.
The police are appealing to eyewitnesses or members of the public who may have seen the stolen vehicle or any similar abandoned car to report to the nearest police station. The public can also contact the following numbers:
