Awka, April 10, 2025 — The Anambra State Police Command has reported significant improvement in the security situation in Ihiala, following the successful arrest of four suspects involved in threatening acts of kidnapping, abduction, and violence within the area.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command credited the enhanced security stability to the resilience and cooperation of the people of Ihiala, who have continued to support law enforcement efforts by identifying criminal elements within their communities.

The breakthrough came after a painstaking investigation by the Joint Security Force stationed in Ihiala, acting on credible intelligence gathered over time. At exactly 2:53 p.m. on April 10, 2025, operatives apprehended four male suspects: Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor, and Nzube Azubuike, all from Okohia, Ihiala.
The suspects were found in possession of mobile phones and SIM cards used to issue threats, including attempts to instill fear through messages related to kidnapping and violence. Their actions, according to the police, posed a serious threat to public safety and sought to undermine the collective security achievements made in the region.
“All suspects confessed to the crime and are currently in custody for further interrogation,” the police spokesperson stated.
The Police Command stressed the gravity of such acts, especially at a time when strategic efforts are being made to restore peace and confidence across the state. “Actions like these have serious implications and are capable of jeopardizing the security of the entire state,” SP Ikenga warned.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining public order, and ensuring that individuals who incite fear or disrupt peace are brought to justice.
Residents of Ihiala are encouraged to remain vigilant, continue collaborating with security agencies, and report any suspicious activity promptly.
With continued public support, the Anambra State Police Command assures that it will sustain its momentum in eradicating threats and strengthening peace across the state.
