Awka, Anambra State – In a continued effort to restore normalcy and economic stability in Anambra State, the Anambra State Police Command has sustained its advocacy against the illegal sit-at-home order, taking to the streets to educate residents on the negative impacts of the directive.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc mnips PhD, led the sensitization campaign, emphasizing that Anambra’s economy thrives on commerce and trade. He encouraged Ndi Anambra and all residents to resume their lawful businesses without fear, assuring them of the security agencies’ commitment to maintaining peace and order, particularly on Mondays.
Speaking during the campaign, CP Orutugu stated:

“The State mainly survives on buying and selling. We encourage Ndi Anambra to go about their lawful businesses without fear. The Police and other security agencies have taken over the streets to ensure safety, and there is no reason for anyone to remain indoors on Mondays.”
The Command reiterated that stringent security measures have been put in place to protect lives and property, ensuring that those who attempt to enforce the illegal order face the full wrath of the law.
To further boost public confidence, the police encouraged residents to boldly dismiss any intimidation, stating:

“Anybody that says you should sit at home on Monday, your reply to the person should be: ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo!’”
The campaign saw officers moving through key areas of the state, engaging traders, transporters, and business owners to emphasize the need to keep economic activities running.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any threats or intimidation to the nearest police station.
