In a renewed drive to foster peace and enhance public safety, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, has intensified his advocacy visits to security stakeholders across the state. This follows the approval by the Inspector General of Police for a comprehensive Police Security Summit to be held across the three senatorial districts of Anambra.

The summit, which will culminate in a grand finale at a central venue, aims to bring Ndi Anambra together to deliberate on pressing security concerns, chart sustainable solutions, and strengthen the bond of trust between the Police and the public. The event is envisioned as an inclusive platform for dialogue, peacebuilding, and cooperative security management.
As part of this ongoing engagement, CP Orutugu, on Wednesday, paid homage to the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Highness Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Obosi. During the visit, he underscored the indispensable role of traditional institutions in safeguarding communities, encouraging active collaboration in promoting peace, vigilance, and mutual trust.

The Police Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working hand in hand with traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, civil society groups, and other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command assured residents that all efforts are being mobilized to tackle security challenges, prevent crime, and maintain the prevailing peace in Anambra.

“The Police remain resolute in partnering with all stakeholders to make Anambra not just safer, but a model of community-driven security in Nigeria,” the statement emphasized.
With the upcoming Security Summit, the state is poised for a renewed era of cooperation between law enforcement and the communities they serve — a partnership many believe is crucial for long-term stability.
