Anambra State, Nigeria – The Anambra Joint Security Force has extended its relentless manhunt for unknown gunmen to the notorious Ogbaru forest, leading to a significant breakthrough. On Friday, April 5, 2024, troops from the Nigerian Army and Navy collaborated in a joint operation that successfully routed criminals hiding in the forest and recovered a cache of weapons.
Locations around Amiyi and Ochuche were meticulously searched by the security forces, who displayed remarkable skill and determination throughout the operation. Several camps used by the insurgents to carry out their destructive activities were discovered and swiftly dismantled.
During the operation, the security forces uncovered and safely defused nine homemade bombs, posing a potential threat to innocent lives. Additionally, four walkie talkies were recovered, believed to be used by the criminals for communication and coordination.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, commended the military for their relentless support in the fight against criminal activities. He expressed gratitude to other security agencies including the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and various vigilante groups in Anambra State for their unwavering cooperation and synergy, resulting in the remarkable successes in ensuring the safety and security of the state.
In a strong warning to cultists causing turmoil in the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, emphasized that their days are numbered. He emphasized that the security forces will not sit idly by and allow them to destabilize the state through cult rivalry, which often leads to fatal consequences.
