In response to a shocking double homicide, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, on Thursday, May 15th, led a team of top police officials and seasoned detectives to Egbebelu Village, Nanka, in Orumba North Local Government Area, to inspect the crime scene and initiate a full-scale investigation.

The tragic incident involved the killing of two individuals by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle. One of the victims, a prominent legal practitioner, was reported to have just secured bail for a client involved in a pending murder trial at High Court II, Ekwulobia. The victims were allegedly followed and ambushed while returning from court.
A third individual survived the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Police have confirmed that the survivor has been debriefed and has provided vital information now aiding in the manhunt for the attackers.

The bodies of the deceased were recovered and identified by their families. A red Toyota Camry, believed to belong to one of the victims, was also found at the crime scene and is now under forensic examination.
CP Orutugu has ordered a comprehensive investigation and deployed tactical and intelligence teams to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted. The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the state.

The Anambra State Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with law enforcement as investigations progress.
