In a bold step toward securing the state’s future, the Anambra State Joint Security Team has launched intensified security patrols in the strategic areas of Nnewi and Ihiala. The move, which began on April 7, 2025, is designed to ensure a safe environment for businesses and residents alike, reinforcing the state’s commitment to safety and economic prosperity.

The Joint Security Team, comprising personnel from the Police, Army (302 Artillery Regiment), Navy, Department of State Security, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Anambra State Vigilante, has mobilized an impressive convoy of armoured vehicles across the region. Their presence aims to assure business owners, particularly in the bustling Mondays markets, that they can operate with confidence and security.

CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, Commissioner of Police, lauded the resilience of residents and local stakeholders in Awka and Onitsha for their continuous efforts to preserve peace and promote a stable environment conducive to economic activity. He specifically recognized the vital role of bus driver associations and market leaders, who have shown unwavering commitment to creating a thriving business climate.

“The collaboration between security agencies and the community has fostered a robust environment for economic activities, particularly on Mondays, when local businesses play a crucial role in the state’s economy,” CP Orutugu stated. “These enhanced patrols are a proactive step to safeguard public safety and nurture economic growth.”

CP Orutugu further emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure environment where the public can confidently engage in economic activities, and businesses can thrive without fear of disruption.
The Police-led Joint Security Force has vowed to continue its rigorous efforts to uphold law and order in the state, supporting both the safety of residents and the flourishing of Anambra’s economy.
