The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has expressed his satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the local government election in Ogbaru Local Government Area, praising the state government for ensuring adequate security during the electoral process. Speaking to newsmen shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 007 in the Ogbaru Council Secretariat, Atani, Rt. Hon. Udeze lauded the high voter turnout, noting that the electorate eagerly embraced the opportunity to strengthen democracy and usher in more development projects through the local council election.
“The people of Ogbaru have shown their commitment to democracy by coming out in large numbers to vote,” Udeze said. He attributed the smooth conduct of the election to the state government’s provision of an enabling environment and robust security presence, ensuring that the voting process was both peaceful and transparent. “The electorate is happy that more development projects will reach them through their elected local government representatives,” he added.
The Speaker further called on the people of Ogbaru to continue supporting the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, emphasizing that the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and deliver services should be encouraged by all, irrespective of party affiliations. He urged well-meaning citizens to unite behind Governor Soludo’s vision for a more prosperous Ogbaru, noting that collective support would help move the local government area to greater heights.
The election in Ogbaru is seen as a key moment for local governance, and the Speaker’s comments highlight the optimism surrounding the state’s commitment to grassroots development.
