The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his recent decision to extend the state’s free education policy to senior secondary school students across all public schools in Anambra. The Speaker emphasised that this initiative demonstrates Governor Soludo’s commitment to improving the standard of education in the state and leaving a lasting legacy of a sound education system.
Speaking at a recent assembly session, Rt. Hon. Udeze described the Governor’s actions as a bold step forward in transforming Anambra’s education sector. He urged the state’s Ministry of Education and other key stakeholders to ensure that the governor’s policies are fully and properly implemented to achieve their desired impact.
“The employment of about eight thousand teachers by Governor Soludo is a significant achievement, one that has gone a long way in addressing the long-standing shortage of teachers in our public schools. This effort will undoubtedly improve the quality of education for students across the state,” Udeze remarked.
He further commended Governor Soludo for his dedication to the welfare of the state’s workforce, referencing the Governor’s recent announcement to implement a ₦70,000 minimum wage for civil servants, set to begin in October. The Speaker urged teachers and other civil servants to remain committed to their duties, highlighting the importance of maintaining professionalism and upholding the integrity of the state workforce.
“Governor Soludo’s reforms are meant to improve not just education but the overall functioning of our civil service. As beneficiaries of these efforts, it is essential that we stay focused on our responsibilities,” Udeze stated.
