Awka….. In a strategic move to enhance security along the Anambra-Enugu border, the Commissioners of Police for Anambra and Enugu States have pledged to collaborate in combating criminal activities infiltrating both territories.
The meeting, held on March 24, 2025, at the Anambra State Command Headquarters, was led by Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, Ph.D., and his Enugu State counterpart, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc. Both Commissioners emphasized the urgent need to curb violent crimes and neutralize subversive elements operating between the two neighbouring states.

Key outcomes of the meeting included a commitment to intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and the pooling of resources to strengthen security efforts. The Commissioners stressed that their united front aims to deter criminal activities at state borders and within their respective jurisdictions.

“We are fully committed to ensuring public safety and will decisively combat all forms of crime,” CP Orutugu stated. His Enugu counterpart, CP Giwa, echoed this resolve, warning criminal elements to either renounce their activities or face the full weight of the law.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Operations and other senior officers from both Commands. The initiative aligns with the enhanced policing directives set by the Inspector-General of Police and underscores the commitment of security agencies to safeguard lives and property across Nigeria’s southeastern region.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State Command, assured residents that the new strategy will yield positive results in the fight against crime.
