AWKA – In a bold step that reshapes the political landscape of Anambra State, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Chief Chidi Charles Onyeze, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for the upcoming November 5, 2025 gubernatorial election.

Onyeze was declared unopposed during the party’s primary election held at the East End Hotel, Aroma, Awka, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The event attracted thousands of Accord Party faithful, national and state party chieftains, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security personnel, and members of the press.

With his official emergence, Chief Onyeze becomes the youngest contender in a high-stakes race that features key political figures including the incumbent Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo (APGA), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC), Mr. Jude Ejimofor (PDP), and Chief George Muoghalu (LP), among others.

Addressing journalists shortly after his declaration, Onyeze expressed deep concern over the state’s current socio-economic challenges. He highlighted unemployment, insecurity, and a failing educational system as urgent issues his administration will tackle head-on if elected.
“This is a defining moment for Anambra,” Onyeze said. “Our people deserve real change and a future they can be proud of. I am fully committed to delivering a progressive and inclusive government that works for all.”

He also called on Accord Party members across the 21 local government areas of the state to embark on a door-to-door mobilization campaign to secure victory at the polls.
“Our strength lies in unity and grassroots engagement,” he added. “Let’s take our message of hope, change, and development to every home and every street in Anambra.”

The Accord Party’s choice of Onyeze, a youthful and dynamic figure, signals a possible generational shift in Anambra politics as the countdown to the November election officially begins.
