The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has called for calm in the wake of a tragic incident that occurred yesterday, April 15, 2025, at Ibeto Junction, Nnewi, where a young woman, later identified as Chiamaka Okeke, was allegedly shot dead by a trigger-happy security operative.

In an official statement released today, CP Orutugu expressed deep regret over the unfortunate loss of life and reassured the public that the Command is already in contact with the relevant security outfit linked to the operative involved. He emphasized the Command’s commitment to identifying the suspect and ensuring that justice is served.
“We understand the pain and outrage this incident has caused,” CP Orutugu stated. “I urge members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding as we work diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding this regrettable event.”
Police authorities have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that further developments would be communicated to the public as the case progresses.
The Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its dedication to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property in the state.
