The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the construction of the Abuja Metro rail line is nearing completion, bringing a sense of relief to residents in the Federal Capital Territory. Wike made this statement just a week before the scheduled inauguration of the project by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Following a final inspection of the project, Wike declared the Abuja light rail ready for commercial operations, expressing satisfaction with the facilities in place.

Wike also highlighted the importance of access roads to the train stations, noting that without them, the metro line would be rendered impractical.
