In a demonstration of inter-agency collaboration and mutual commitment to effective security operations, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, AIG Abayomi, received the State Director of Security (SDS) for the Department of State Services (DSS), Anambra State, during a working courtesy visit to the Zonal Headquarters.
The visit, which took place at the Zone 13 Police Zonal Headquarters, Ukpo, was aimed at strengthening the already existing cooperation between the DSS and the Nigeria Police Force in the region, while also seeking to establish a more structured and sustainable working relationship under the leadership of the newly posted AIG.

Speaking during the visit, the SDS expressed appreciation for the continuous support and collaboration extended by the Nigeria Police, particularly the Zone 13 command. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong, open channel of communication and intelligence sharing between the two agencies to ensure effective and proactive crime-fighting operations within the state.
While acknowledging previous successes recorded through inter-agency cooperation, the Director pledged the DSS’s readiness to deepen the collaboration, noting that security agencies must operate in unity to effectively address emerging threats. “We must continue to share intelligence and support one another to stay ahead of criminal elements,” he stated.
In his response, AIG Abayomi warmly welcomed the Director and his team, expressing gratitude for the visit and reaffirming the Police Command’s unwavering commitment to fostering stronger ties with the DSS. He described the SDS as “a friend and brother in the security family,” pledging to work hand-in-hand to achieve shared goals in internal security management.
The AIG emphasized that no single agency can combat crime in isolation and that only through unity and timely intelligence sharing can national security objectives be met. “All hands must be on deck,” he said, “to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians within our Areas of Responsibility.”
He further commended the symbolic importance of the visit, describing it as a clear gesture of support and solidarity that must be followed by practical, consistent collaboration on the ground. According to him, such synergy will ensure no security threat catches the state unprepared.
Also in attendance during the meeting were senior officers from both the Anambra State DSS Command and the Zone 13 Police Zonal Headquarters management team, signifying the seriousness both agencies attach to mutual cooperation and effective policing.
The visit underscores a renewed commitment by both the DSS and the Police to work together more closely in gathering and sharing actionable intelligence for the greater safety and security of the people of Anambra State and beyond.
