The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, led a high-profile security patrol across the state on March 31, 2025, reinforcing law enforcement efforts and community engagement.

As part of his proactive measures, the CP visited the site of the recent fire incident at Ifejirika by Nwangene Street, Onitsha. He assessed the situation firsthand and ensured that police officers deployed to the area were maintaining order. Expressing regret over the unfortunate event, he proposed a meeting with marketers, warehouse owners, and relevant stakeholders to discuss preventive measures for future incidents.

During his patrol, the CP also made an unannounced visit to the Fegge Divisional Police Headquarters, where he reviewed ongoing cases and ordered the immediate release of two suspects allegedly detained over a minor offense.

In a show of support for security efforts, the Onitsha Bus Drivers Association pledged its commitment to ensuring the full restoration of economic activities in Onitsha, aligning with the Commissioner’s goal of fostering a safe business environment.

Further promoting unity, the CP visited the Palace of the Head of the Northern Community in Anambra State. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity, peace, and cooperation among all ethnic groups in the state.

His patrol also covered key areas, including the Main Market Divisional Headquarters, Building Materials Market, Onitsha Head Bridge, and other strategic locations.

Reaffirming the police command’s dedication to community policing, CP Orutugu assured residents that security agencies would continue strengthening relationships with the public to enhance trust and maintain law and order.
