Awka, March 3, 2025 – The Anambra State Police Command has intensified operations against the illegal Sit-At-Home order, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, spearheads a public advocacy campaign against the act.

Expressing deep concern over the negative social and economic impact of the illegal order, CP Orutugu emphasized the need to educate residents about its consequences. He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to restoring normalcy and tackling crime-related ideologies fueling the order.

The CP highlighted that criminal elements have exploited the directive to launch attacks on innocent citizens, security personnel, and government infrastructure, as well as engage in kidnapping and other unlawful activities. He stressed that Anambra State is home to industrious and enterprising individuals whose full potential can only be realized in a peaceful and secure environment.
“Anambra thrives on commerce, and it is crucial for residents to freely conduct their businesses without fear,” CP Orutugu stated. He assured Ndi Anambra and other residents that security forces have been deployed across the state, particularly on Mondays, to ensure safety and deter criminal activities.
In addition, the police command is working closely with community leaders and stakeholders to address the root causes of the Sit-At-Home order and develop a sustainable solution to the issue.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to upholding law and order, urging residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
The Anambra State Police Command remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives, promote peace, and foster economic prosperity across the state.
