Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested a 37-year-old man, Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, following a heated argument over foodstuffs.
The incident occurred in Adegbe Village, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area. According to police reports, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect used a stick to fatally pierce his brother’s chest. Emmanuel Okafor, 45, was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The Anambra State Police Command, through its spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest, stating that the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation. Upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged in court.
Authorities have described the incident as tragic and a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. They have urged families to adopt peaceful conflict resolution methods to prevent such devastating consequences.
